چکیده
Purpose: Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia (ALHE) is a rare disorder presenting with solitary or multiple nodules in the dermis or subcutaneous tissues. ALHE shares clinical as well as histopathological characteristics with Kimura disease (KD), but they have been considered to be two distinct entities based on their histological features. Orbital and adnexal involvement in ALHE is rare. The published literature is limited to few case reports featuring single cases. Methods: We report a series of 5 cases of ALHE presenting with diverse clinical features seen at a tertiary referral care centre in India. We also review the published literature with a special emphasis on the treatment modalities for orbital and adnexal ALHE. Results: Three patients of this series presented with orbital involvement, while the remaining 2 had involvement of the eyelid. Three patients underwent incisional and/or excisional biopsy, whereas 2 were managed conservatively. There were no recurrences seen on followup. Conclusions: ALHE can rarely involve the orbit and adnexa. There is no consensus on the best modality of manageReceived: August 29, 2014 Accepted after revision: May 12, 2015 Published online: July 16, 2015 Dr. Bipasha Mukherjee Orbit, Oculoplasty, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Services Sankara Nethralaya Medical Research Foundation 18 College Road, Chennai 600 006 (India) E-Mail beas003 @ yahoo.co.uk © 2015 S. Plasmacytoid dendritic cells in angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia
Background: Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia (ALHE) is characterized by irregularly-shaped blood vessels with an inflammatory infiltrate. While absent from normal skin, plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) infiltrate the skin upon injury and during several infectious, inflammatory, and neoplastic entities. In addition to providing anti-viral resistance, pDCs link the innate and adapti...

Background: Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia (ALHE) is an uncommon benign lesion, primarily occurring in the head and neck. ALHE arising from the ocular adnexa is rare, and the bilateral presentation is especially rare in the eyelids. Case presentation: A 64-year-old Japanese man presented with tearing. Multiple nodules, approximately 5 mm in size, were observed in bilateral upper an...
